In The Beginning...
Hi. I’m Kim Zoot and I am a writer with a non-stop brain living in Alabama - where I am unique in my politics, but not in my accent. I’ve been creating content online since 2004 in everything from online parenting magazines to local event guides. In the last 16+ years, my writing focus has bounced around titles like Mommy Blogger, Bullet Journaler, Pop Culture Critic, Ultrarunner, Book Talker, and Educator. I’ve written a lot about unlearning bad programming around race, sexuality, gender, and fat. My mental health is complicated, but yields a brain constantly overflowing with ideas that I like to filter out into essays. Otherwise, I’ll forget to brush my teeth or put my car in park.
I participate in random bits of social media, depending on my mood and my current topic obsession. (Recently: Nail polish. I learned to paint my nails during the pandemic. Turns out this girl likes shimmer.) I try to keep those links updated on my linktr.ee. My pronouns are she/her.
